Hello Everyone!

Today, I am going to talk about our second assignment about the flipped learning. Our task was to create a “Grammar Teaching Video”. We did the work in pairs, I studied with my friend Emre Yunus Angay. At first, we decide on our topic. We prepared a class about "Comparative, Superlative & Equality" for high school prep-classes. We decided to work on our flipped video at first so that it would be easier for us afterwards. We faced some struggles during our project though, it was educational and very beneficial for us to be a part of this task.

We started our work with creating a presentation document on Canva. Then, we recorded our voices and added them on the presentation document using Camtasia 9. After the editing part on Camtasia, we used “Nearpod” to add an interesting and educational quiz for students to see if they understand the topic. We also added colors to make it more interesting.

I think, this task is very important for us (educators) to adapt our teaching methods to 21st century learning. Since the online platforms have gained more importance after the covid-19 pandemic, these type of “flipped learning” videos have also gained importance as well... If we manage to integrate the foreign language learning classes to flipped learning classes, it would be more beneficial for learners to take in the informations and learn.

Hello everyone!

I hope everyone’s doing ok. Today, I going to talk about our "Flipped Video experience" with my friend, Nida Bara. We decided on Unit 5-Health to prepare a flipped video for our students. We used 5th grade MEB’s course book for the materials. We created a flipped video for young learners (5th graders.). A flipped video can be used in a class as well as outside the class. We had some problems while creating our project. The video making process was a new thing for me. So I had to learn from the scratch. At first, we used Canva. However, we couldn't manage to create a complete video like flipped videos. It looked like a slideshow, instead. Then, in our second try, we used Powtoon. Powtoon is a tool which is very easy to use but there was just one point we struggled a lot. It is about adding a voiceover. Nida and I couldn't handle to use it efficiently so we had some troubles. So we did the voiceover by creating a complete audio recording. In conclusion, it was a good experience for me and I would like to use it in the future like for my students. Thank you for reading my blog! Take care...

Hello everyone,

In 21th century, digital platforms have gained importance in education. There are many benefits of these platforms especially for ESL learners. Language awareness tasks, encourage learners to explore and understand the language by themselves. They also generate modules for grammar teaching and decontextualized single sentence examples as a groundwork for their study materials. Corpus is a gathering of listed examples of spoken or written language and maintains the data from which learners detect the patterns by themselves. Corpus, generally focuses on grammar and vocabulary. Our task was to create a language awareness task by using corpus with our friend. The task based on inductive learning which aims, students’ discovery of a grammatical or a vocabulary item. In my opinion these kind of tasks are very beneficial for the student’s self learning skills. Because the corpus platform allows them to explore the knowledge by themselves by guiding them.
