The Most "Delicious" Magazine Cover!

Hello Everyone,

Today’s topic is going to be really yummy! First I want to talk about the task. Our task was to create a magazine cover and we were free to choose its topic. I used ‘Canva’ to create my task and added some cool pictures about my topic for the aesthetic.

I chose the topic “food” for my magazine cover because I love food and it also takes a huge place in our lives. Who doesn’t love high quality, delicious food? So I decided to advertise my aunt’s new enterprise called “Kavanozda Mezeler”. "Meze"s can be considered as types of appetizers, which people can consume with some good drinks and pre-meals.

I named my magazine “Tarot” because I think there is something magical about good food and I also read tarots too! So I decided to connect those two things I love and I created a logo for my magazine which is made of tarot cards.

I think this task was very entertaining to make and, it required imagination and creativity. In my opinion, those two factors are very important in 21st-century learning. Thus, I would like to give my students this task in the future to improve their creativity and originality.

CLEAN WATER IN ISTANBUL

The task required group work so at first, we created our group with my friends. After that, we decided how our padlet should look on the outside. Everybody offered an option and we chose our theme wallpaper by voting. The topic we have chosen is, İstanbul’s clean water. I pointed out Kadıköy’s Kurbağalıdere project and how this project has helped cleaning the water. My friends talked about drinkable water in İstanbul and there are also some statics and charts are embeded in the padlet as well. The bad smell and disgusting images are fixed with that project.

Padlet was very useful for group work. It allows people to post knowledges and pictures in addition to that, we can also see what our team mate has posted there too. We always kept in touch while doing the task. Shared our opinions with each other and created the whole work together.

I think this application is really good for students to work as a team. Our generation is born into technology so, this internet-based project is very beneficial for 21st century learners since it requires to know how to use technology while learning.

My Book Review!

Hello, everyone!

I want to talk about a book that I love. It is called “The Other Side of the Couch”. Our task was to create a Wiki page and share our review of the book. It was actually quite easy to write the review but I had a difficult time while uploading some visuals. But eventually figured it out of course :)

The book is mainly about human psychology and it contains real and extraordinary cases that Dr. Small has dealt with. There are many interesting cases our doctor (the main character) examines such as Apotemnophilia that characterized by the overwhelming desire to amputate healthy parts of the body or Capgras Syndrome which causes patients to hold the delusional belief that someone in their life, usually a spouse, close friend, or

family member, has been replaced by an impostor.

I would love to use wikis with my students in the future because I think this is a really good way to communicate with your friends and as a teacher, I would like them to discuss and absorb the task. I think this activity would encourage them to learn and share.
